BC WELFARE

a) DEPARTMENT PROFILE :

The objective aim of B.C. Welfare Department is to uplift the Backward Classes people socially and economically by devising and implementing the various welfare schemes Head of the Department and also 56 B.C. Financial Corporations which are formulated covering 136 sub-castes enlisted in B.C. Caste list. On its part, various schemes being implemented for the educational aspects through the District Administration.

  • Tutors were appointed for 4 Subjects (English, Hindi, and Maths & Science) for 10th Class boarders
  • Biometric / Irish attendance were implemented in all B.C. Welfare Hostels in the District. All the Hostel related bills were generated through online (JNB Nivas portal).
  • Menu is being implemented in all B.C. Welfare Hostels in the District without any deviation.
  • In the year 2022-23, 35 Hostels were identified under Phase-II Nadu-Nedu Programme towards providing better infrastructure in Hostels and proposals were submitted to the Director (BCW) through engineering wing.
  • Awareness programme were conducted on child abuse in all B.C. Welfare Hostels in the District.
  • Vidyakanuka Kits were provided to the all Welfare Hostel boarders through Education Department in Schools
  • Plate, Glass, Katora, Trunk box, are to be supplied. Note books, Chikkies and Bedding materials are being supplied to Hostel students through Head of the dept.,
  • Sanitary Napkins are provided in Schools under “Swaccha Program” from 7th class girl boarders.
  • Carpets and Bed sheets distributed to the boarders every year.
  • Cosmetic charges credited into boarder’s mother accounts. Paid up to December, 2023.
  • Window Meshes have been arranged to the window/doors of the Govt. Buildings in the year 2021.

Videsi Vidya Deevena:

Through the G.O.Ms.No.39, Social Welfare (Edn.) Department, Dated:11-7-2022, the existing scheme from 2016-2017 onwards which is intended for pursuing higher studies in Foreign Countries and started from 2019-2020 onwards due to some grave irregularities in implementing the scheme, it is ordered that the scheme shall be know as “Videsi Vidya Deevena under the programme, 200 universities are enlisted and in which, 100% financial assistance will be given to 100 Universities and 50% financial assistance will be give to the rest of 100 Universities amount will be paid in 4 instalments, ceiling of income limit is Rs. 8.00 Lakhs per annum. This shall has come into implementation from 2022-2023 onwards.

BC STUDY CIRCLE :

The A.P. Study Circle for BC’s was established in Nellore in the year 2013. Due to Pandemic Covid-19, impact couching to BC/SC/ST category candidates has been stalled for the last 3 years. Now APPSC Group-II Couching started with 80 students from 27.12.2023 now onwards. Conducted for 2 months from 27.12.2023 with a total of 80 students. Out of which 16 people have qualified for the examination. DSC coaching will be given to 200 people in the study circle.

CONSTRUCTION OF BC BHAVAN AT DISTRICT HEAD-QUARTERS:

Govt. in their G.O. Rt. No. 61, BCW (B) Dept., Dt: 1.5.2018 have accorded administrative sanction for construction B.C. Bhavan in Nellore in the land available in CAS No. 590 of Nellore Bit-1 Village of Nellore Mandal, Nellore district with an estimated cost of Rs. 545.00 Lakhs to be released from the CIIP funds for construction. The constructional work has been entrusted to the Executive Engineer, Public & Health Dept.,
