ABOUT TECHNICAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT:
The Department of Technical Education was established in G.O.Ms.No.1166, Education Department dated 5-6-1957 to bring about coordinated efforts for the development of Technical Education by pooling of Engineering Colleges from the Director of Public Instructions and the Polytechnics from the Department of Industries and Technical Examinations from the Commissioner of Government Examinations.

About College :
The Government Polytechnic Atmakur is owned by the Department of Technical Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh. This polytechnic was sanctioned by the Government of A.P as per the G.O M.s No. 28 of Higher Education (T.E-I) Department dated : 01/04/2011 with 3 branches Diploma in Automobile Engineering, Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with 60 intake in each branch.
Government Polytechnic, Atmakur is approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi. This college offers an abundant supply of resources, facilities and significant opportunities for its students to prove themselves.
Government Polytechnic, Atmakur is located in Venkatraopalli Village, which is just 3 km from Atmakur, This College is situated near by Abhayanjaneya Swamy temple, Beside Bombay National High Way, Venkatraopalli, Atmakur, SPSR Nellore District.
The campus is equipped with all the facilities which are the major requirements of any student like cafeteria and Drinking Water, and Amenities. Over 1000 square feet of instructional space with spacious classrooms, laboratories, Library and Computer Center, and much more is accommodated at the campus
Admissions:
Admissions of students into polytechnics is based on a common entrance examination conducted by the state board of technical education (POLYCET). This examination is generally conducted in the month of May every year after SSC public examination. Basing on the ranks students are admitted into this institution.
Examinations:
The examinations are conducted by the State board of Technical Education and Training for all the diploma examinations. The eligibility and other rules are printed in the syllabus book supplied to the students at free of cost.

SPORTS & GAMES:
- Government Polytechnic has facilities for Indoor games like caroms and chess.
- Outdoor games like volley ball, football, cricket, throw ball and kabadi.
- We encourage our students to participate in all sports and games competitions and sports meets.
- We have appointed a Physical Director to take care of all sports & games activities and to guide/train/ make practice the students.
