Nellore City is historically and culturally named as Vikrama Simhapuri. In this city we find great cultural heritage. The great personalities of Literature, Music, Dance and Other Fine Arts were flourished since more than 100 years.
In this cultural city Department of Culture is running a Govt. School of Music and Dance, more than 35 years as a symbol of great culture and tradition. This institute reflects the great art of Music and Dance among the public in the city.
Initially this Music and Dance Institution was established in ‘Kota’ village, Nellore District by the great political leader late Sri Nallapareddy Srinivasulu Redy garu around 1976. So many students joined and there was a very good response and quick development. Very soon it became good cultural institution.
Later this Music and Dance Instituted was shifted to Nellore Headquarters (City) in the year 1990 when Sri Nedurumalli Janardhana Reddy garu was the Chief Minister. It was the dream of late Dr. Bezawada Gopala Reddy garu to bring this Music and Dance School to the city (Headquarters) with the idea of inculcating great interest and cultural taste among the students and public. He succeeded in his attempt.
