a) PROFILE

  1. Yanadi, Yerukula, Nakkala tribes are in the tribal groups among 34 sub groups. At Present Yanadi sub tribe became highest population among sub tribe groups in new Andhra Pradesh.
  2. Main occupations of the above three groups of Tribes – Traditional livelihood of Yanadis is fishing in inland tanks and canals, Agriculture Labour, Scavenging, Rickshaw Pullers and Fishing as main occupation / small agricultural farmers in some areas having DKT / CJFS lands. Traditional Livelihood of Yerukula community is small businesses, going to other states for small business. Traditional Livelihood of Nakkala community is manufacturing of small toys and sales at city platforms and going to other states for sale of toys. 
  3. These tribes are scattered in all Mandals.
  4. % of Literacy: Nellore 42.80%

c) Schemes / Activities

There are 21 Tribal Welfare Educational Institutions functioning in the District, the details of the institutions are furnished hereunder.

FACILITIES TO BE PROVIDED TO THE STUDENTS & BOARDERS

  1. Diet Charges will be paid @ Rs. 1,000/- (3rd & 4th Classes) and Rs. 1,250/- (5th to 10th Class) 
  2. Cosmetics (kind) supplied @ Rs.100/- (3rd & 4th Classes) for Boys, and @ 110/- for Girls and Rs. 125/- (5th to 10th Classes) for Boys and @ 165/- for Girls, in addition to that, hair Cutting Charges will be paid @ 30/- per month for Boys from 3rd to 10th Classes. 
  3. Four pairs Uniform, Three pairs Night Dresses, Bedding Material, Steel Plates & Glasses, School Bags, Sports material will be provided to the students.

INCENTIVES TO INTER CASTE MARRIED COUPLE:

An amount of Rs.50,000/- will be sanctioned to the inter caste married couple with ST Bride groom or Bride.

BEST AVAILABLE SCHOOLS:

English Medium Convent Education will be provided to the Poor ST Students under this scheme (Residential Scheme only). Fresh admission will be provided to 3rd, 5th and 8th classes, they are studying in said schools up to 10th class. Total 1255 seats allotted to this District.

POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIPS:-

Post Matric Scholarships and Fee Reimbursement will be sanctioned to the students who are studying the courses from Intermediate to P.G level.

PRE MATRIC SCHOLARSHIPS:

Y.S.R. VIDYA DEEVENA (Central Fund) :-

Under this scheme the students studying 9th & 10th classes in all Govt./Aided/Local Bodies schools are being sanctioned Pre-Matric S/ships @ Rs.150/- P.M together with an ad-hoc grant of Rs.750/- P.A, totalling Rs. 2,250/- to each student.

NEW SCHEME (State Fund):-

Under this scheme the students studying 5th to 8th classes in all Govt. / Aided / Local Bodies schools @ Rs. 1000/- P.A for boys and @ Rs. 1500/- P.A for girls are being sanctioned under this scheme.

SKILL UPGRADATION:

This is to provide coaching to ST students for Eligibility Test such as TOFEL/IELTS and GRE/GMAT and other admission in foreign universities. Coaching will be provided in reputed institutes selected by the State Level Committee. Graduates / Degree final year students are eligible to apply under this scheme.

AMBEDKAR OVERSEAS VIDYA NIDHI:

This is to benefit to the ST students to do their higher education in Foreign Universities. An amount of Rs.15.00 lakhs Scholarships, Visa Charges and Flight Charges will be sanctioned by the Department.

YSR VIDYONNATHI:

This is to provide financial assistance to the Civil Service aspirants of ST students to get admission in Reputed Coaching Centres at New Delhi, Hyderabad etc.

FREE POWER:

The Govt. paying the electricity charges of S.T. families who are utilising the electricity below 100 units for housing purpose. As per G.O.Ms.No.91 SW (SCP.A2) Dept, Dt. 24.07.2019 Govt. has been enhanced the benefit under this scheme from 100 to 200 Units.
