a) PROFILE

1. Existing Industries:

Mega Projects

There are 9 Mega Industries working in the district with an investment of Rs. 37,6704.90 Cr. providing employment to 13,599 persons.
Distinguished activities are Thermal Power Generation, Industrial Port, Mfg. of Steel, Glass, Automobile Parts, Footwear, Edible Oil, Aluminum Products etc.,

Large Industries

There are 33 Large Industries working in the district with an investment of Rs.30,79.08 Cr. providing employment to 5,457 persons.
Prominent activities are Mfg. of Vegetable Oils, Shrimp feed, Processed Shrimp / Prawn / Fish, Metal Products, Bulk Drugs, Pharmaceuticals, Solar and Wind Power etc.,

Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises

There are 18,167 Micro, Small & Medium enterprises registered in the district with an investment of Rs. 20,269.47 Cr. providing employment to 1,93,994 persons.

2. Industries under implementation:

Mega Projects & Large Industries:

10 Large and Mega Projects are under active implementation in the district with a proposed investment of Rs. 37,625.07 Cr. and a proposed employment of 13,833 persons.

3. Single Desk Policy:

Under the Single Desk Policy, 7,920 applications have been approved in the district from 2015 out of which 99.05 % of the applications approved within the stipulated time period.
During the year 2023-24, 1,997 applications have ben approved, out of which 99.54 % applications are approved within the stipulated time period.
During the current year 2024-25, 646 applications have been approved all within the stipulated time period.

4. Industrial Incentives:

1) So far an amount of Rs.201.13 Cr has been sanctioned as fiscal incentives in respect of 3162 claims. (June, 2014 – 15 – 2024-25).
2) During the year 2023-24, an amount of Rs. 5.82 Cr. has been sanctioned as fiscal incentives in respect of 125 claims.

5. Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme:

During the year 2023-24, an amount of Rs. 12.56 Cr. has been sanctioned as fiscal incentives in respect of 246 units.
During the year 2024-25, an amount of Rs. 5.85 Cr. has been sanctioned as fiscal incentives in respect of 13 units.
