Narada Maharishi Taposthalam Bilakuta Kshetra, the hill where Daksha Prajapati was angered for suggesting to invite Lord Shiva for the Bitraguntadaksha Yajna, the mountain where Narada Maharshi was cursed and did penance in Narayana Mantra to remove the curse is called Bilakuta Kshetra, another: Kali Yuga Vaikuntha. Since the time of the Chola kings in the year 1356, incense offerings and Brahmotsavams have been taking place for the Lord. Many stories are popular. Lakhs of devotees attend Panchahnika Brahmotsavam every year from all over the state.
As soon as Maimarachi heard the call of his devotees who were in trouble, he became an orphan and saved Gajaraja during Gajendramoksha period. The sound coming from the crater sounded like the Narayana mantra and the sage Narada got rid of the curse. There are popular legends that Maharishi Narada asked for a boon to turn this area into Vaikuntha after the release of the curse and was given a boon that would not be fulfilled in Kaliyuga: Maharshi Angushta vowed to worship the idol by inverting Shanku Chakra weapons.
During the time of the Cholas in the Kali Yuga, Kavali Nundalam was ruled as a Jadhani. Gauramba Venkateswara, the daughter of King Sudarsha, was a great devotee of Lord Swami. She appeared in a dream and explained that she was standing on the Bilakuta mountain. Later, she identified Vekateswara Swamy in a pleasant form: The temple construction was done in 1356. It is clear from the sculptures of the temple mandapa.
