a) DEPARTMENT PROFILE :
The Department deals with the monitoring of Ground Water levels in the district. A monitoring network consisting of 100 piezometers is established and 95 piezometers are fitted with Continues automatic monitoring equipment called Automatic Water Level Recorders with Telemetry System. Once in every one hour the water levels are measured by these meters and sent to central server. The data is available in CM Core dashboard also with public access.
The Department deals with the Ground water exportation surveys in SC,ST, Lands and also construction of bore wells under SC,ST Sub Plan. The Ground Water exploration will be taken up in Private Lands, on payment basis.
The applications received under Single Window for Industries will be considered and approvals will be given to draw ground water after detailed surveys of the site. The Department will give ground water clearance to check dams and Percolation Tanks, after conducting Infiltration Tests.
The Department also particulates in giving clearance to Mines, Sand reaches and Aquaculture Ponds. The Departments taking up Ground Water resourceestimation with the methodology recommended by Ground Water Estimation Committee(GEC) and categorizes the Basins, Mandals and Villages as safe, semi–critical, critical and over exploited.The Department prepares monthly reports consisting of Ground Water Level maps etc., to convey the status of ground water in the district.
