2. SOLAR ON – GRID POWER PROJECTS:
As a part of “POWER FOR ALL” Government of A.P. has introduced Solar Rooftop for the Domestic, Govt. Offices, Schools and Colleges. Solar On Grid Systems can generate power when the utility power grid is available. They must connect to the grid to function, it can send excess power generated back to the grid when you are over producing, so you credit it for later use.
Components of Solar On – Grid System:
The System usually consists of Solar Panels, Grid Tie Inverter, Mounting Structure, Net Meter, DC/ AC Disconnects, Cables/ Wires and Earthing.
Basic Requirement:
Before choosing the On-Grid System, it is required to determine the total consumption in units, Contracted Load, Shadow free area.
Thumb Rule:
For installation of 1KWp Solar System required 10 Sq. Meters / 100 Sq. Feet area and it will generate 4 units/ day because we have approximately essential Sunshine Hours 4 to 5 hours per day.
Capacity of the System in KWp | No.Of Units generated per day | No. Of Units generated per month | Area required | |
---|---|---|---|---|
Sq. Feets | Sq. Meters | |||
1KWp | 4 | 120 | 100 | 10 |
2KWp | 8 | 240 | 200 | 20 |
3KWp | 12 | 360 | 300 | 30 |
Specifications:
- Solar Panels should have the necessary certifications from Certifying agencies of MNRE or BIS/ IES.
- Direction of the Solar Panels should be “South” with inclination of the Solar Panels (130– 150for AP) (If it is Fixed System).
Cost details of Grid Connected Solar Rooftop Systems:
Sl. No | Capacity | Total Price Per KWp |
---|---|---|
1 | 1KWp | 76,490.00 |
2 | 2KWp | 76,490.00 |

7 | 11-100KWp | 67,080.00 |
8 | 101-500KWp | 63,840.00 |
3. Solar Off – Grid Rooftop Programme:
An off-grid solar system is more popular and comes with a power backup. It works independently of the grid. Most home appliances such as Fans, TV, Cooler, AC, Water Pump etc. can work through this system. For instance, a 1 kW off-grid solar system is sufficientfor a 2-4 BHK house.
- Solar Off-Grid Systems work independently without connecting to the grid but have batteries which can store the power generated by the system.
- The System usually consists of Solar Panels, battery, inverter, mounting structure etc.
- The panels generate the Power during the day time (approximately5Hours–is called Essential Sunshine Hours)
- Off-Grid Solar Systems are independent, long-term and generate sustainable electricity power in rural and remote areas, when there is no grid.

5. Solar Street Lighting System :
- A Standalone Solar Photovoltaic Street Lighting System is an outdoor lighting unit used for illuminating a street or an open area.
- The Solar Street Lighting System consists of SPV Module, aluminaire, Storage Battery, control electronics, interconnecting wires/ cables, module mounting pole including hardware and battery box.
- The luminaire is mounted on the pole at a suitable angle to maximize illumination on the ground. The PV Module is placed at the top of the pole at the angle facing south so that it receives solar radiation through put the day, without any shadow falling on it.
- Electricity generated by the PV Module charges the battery during the day time which power the luminaire from dusk to dawn. The System lights at dusk and switches off at dawn automatically.
