SOCIETY FOR TRAINING, EMPLOYMENT AND PROMOTION (SETNEL)

a) DEPARTMENT PROFILE:

Society for Training and Employment Promotion, Nellore, (SETNEL) or STEP, Nellore was established under Chairmanship of District Collector to create self employment opportunities to unemployed youth in the district. Andhra Pradesh Society for Training and Employment Promotion (APSTEP) at state level under the control of Commissioner of Youth Services is monitoring the activities of STEPs in the districts.

Youth welfare Activities:

1. National / International Important days:

As per the instruction of the Director of Youth services and Managing Director, APSTEP, observed National / International important days in this district.

2. Inter District Youth Exchange Programme

To introduce the culture, Geological, important places, livelihood, employment facilities in other places to the youth of this district youth exchange programmes are being conducted by this society

3. Integration Camp

To create awareness among the youth in personality development, career guidance and improvement of their responsibilities among the society integration camps are being conducted by inviting youth from all the districts @25 youth per district

4. Youth Festivals

To identify by conducting competitions in 18 disciplines in traditional and Indian culture arts like Bharata Natyam, Kuchipudi, Khatak, Oddissi, Manipuri, Folk Dance and Songs, One Act Play, Karnatik, Hindustani, Flute, Veena, Mrudangam, Tabala, Harmonium, Guitar etc.,

These competitions for selection of youth among the above disciplines will be organized firstly at Division level later District level and State Level. The winners of state level competitions will depute to National level competitions to be held in the month of January on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda Jayanthi.

5. Youth Week Celebrations

In every year in the month of January, National Youth Week Celebrations will be commence, in lieu of Swamy Vivekananda Jayanthi under which one of the Youth Welfare Programme.

6. Registration / Rejuvenation of Youth Clubs/ Associations

211 youth clubs were formed/ rejuvenated in this district. During this year it is a planned to form new youth clubs with the assistance of the youth volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra

7. Recruitment Rallies ( Army/ Air force)

Imparting Pre Army and Air Force Trainings to the youth who are interested in participating army recruitment rallies.
