Sri Krishna Dharma Raja Swamy Temple, Nellore

History of the Temple (Sthala Purana):-

In the past, Shri Jambu Maharishi performed a great yagya in the south-west direction of the Himalayan mountain ranges. From that homagunda was born Viryavanth, Tejovanth and Viru who wears weapons. He is the cause of Agnikulas, whose name is Swayambhavanavu. Their descendants are called Agnikulas or Pallavas. (Sloka 5 of the Aranya Parva in India, Chapter 220 of Markandeya’s problem category.

Swayambhavanavu, the founder of the Kshatriya dynasty, was born in Agni. Similarly, Sri Mat Draupathi Devi was born from the fire pit of the world and became famous as the sister of Lord Krishna as the wife of the Pandavas (Bharata Adi Parva 7-19). Among these temples, Sri Krishna Dharmaraja Draupathi Devi Temple in Moolpet, Nellore Town & District, Andhra Pradesh is the oldest. It is built in an area of about one hectare. East face, the gate, a very spacious enclosure inside, is very beautiful to look at.

Here the Puja method is ancient and Shakteyam is a Dravidian tradition and the Puja functions are being performed since many years. Agni Kulajulai is performing the puja duties. The main deity of the temple is Shri Mad Draupathi Devi Shri Parthasaradi Yudhisthura. The main idols of Shri Draupathi Devi are stone idols, the south side of the temple is Parikshithu, the god of Vyasa, and Daumyu stone idols.

These are very masculine. These are the idols of the Pancha Pandavas, Draupathi Devi and Partha Saradi potu king. They are enshrined in the form of rock in the mandapa opposite the shrine of Yunatula Pothu. Sri Chennakesava Swamy is on the south side of the entrance and Vijjeswara Swamy is on the north side them They are consecrated and worshiped every day. Inside the temple, there is a nagula putta towards the south-west, its greatness cannot be overstated.

To the north-west of the temple there is a temple of Munishwaru and Sapta Kanyakal, which has a special glory in this area until now there was a big Vata tree, where the Munishwars used to live. Regular abhishekams are offered to this temple. There is a big well in the north-east direction of the temple. It is called Punyathirdamani. This water is used by Swami for his Thiruvanjam.The sins will be washed away and the disease will be freed. The water is very sweet. There is a Yagasala in the south-east direction. In this temple, marriage auspicious events, Kesha Khandan mahotsavam, and special programs of Pongal Pongal are held.
