History of the Temple (Sthala Purana):-

Manumasiddi who ruled Vikrama Simhapuri Mandal was named after Tirukalatti God and he had the title Gandagopalu. Between 10th and 11th centuries Krishnapatnam was known as Gandagopalapatnam. The Siddheshwara Temple and the Venugopalaswamy Temple, which were the crowning glory of Gopalapatnam, were restored during the reign of Lord Tirukalatti.
